Policy Council
Policy Council is established at the program level. Each classroom in Salt Lake Community Action Program elects one representative; an alternate may also be selected. There are also community representatives who sit on the Council. These may be former Head Start parents or individuals in the community who have an interest in families and children and are elected by the Policy Council.

All members of the Policy Council are eligible to run for office. The Policy Council approves policies and plans that affect the entire program. Other Policy Council responsibilities include but are not limited to: participating the in the selection and approval of hiring of Head Start staff, approval of all budgets and funding applications, program policies and participating in the annual self-assessment process.

All members of Policy Council must stand for election or re-election annually. The number of one-year terms any individual may serve must be limited to three times.
